Conspirator originated as an electronic outlet for Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner during the Disco Biscuits semi-touring hiatus, but, since that time, many of the duos songs have found their way into the Disco Biscuits catalogue. On Friday Conspirator performed at Denvers Cervantes Ballroom and used the opportunity to introduce some new songs into its repertoire. In addition to introducing a bunch of new material, on Friday we debuted the Disco Biscuits Abraxas for Conspirator, the opposite of how we have been doing it. Brownstein says. Usually we do songs in our side projects and then bring them to the band. With Abraxas we went the other way. The gig also included a choice version of the Disco Biscuits 42.
In addition, on Saturday Conspirator performed at Boulders Fox Theatre and ran through the new numbers Step Inside and Stuck in the States, the later of which Magner wrote with Si B from Twisted Records. Conspirator also played a few songs by Magners Moshi Moshi side-project for the first time and closed with former Disco Biscuits drummer Sam Altmans Oname Wa.
Conspirator will perform next at New Yorks BB King Blues Club on September 28. The show will be a late night performance, taking place after Sound Tribe Sector 9 plays a few block away at the Nokia Theatre.
