Govt Mules current southern run included a string of guest appearances from some of the groups oldest friends. On Thursday the quartet performed at Nashville, TNs War Memorial Auditorium and invited out both former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Jack Pearson and Wet Willie vocalist/harp-ace Jimmy Hall (who spent may years recording for the Allman Brothers Bands former label Capricorn) for the last three songs of Govt Mules performance: It’s My Own Fault, She Caught The Katy and 32/20 Blues. As expected, the groups performance at Atlantas The Tabernacle also featured some familiar faces, including longtime ABB tour mystic Kirk West (who introduced the band as he has on occasion since his days on the road with the Mule in 1994 with the phrase Friends seen and unseen), opening act Grace Potter (who took the stage for a version of Al Greens Take Me to the River) and Karl Denson and Ivan Neville (whose co-headlining tour interested Govt Mules outing in Atlanta this weekend). Govt Mule will appear at Memphis, TNs Gibson Rooftop this Wednesday.
