Last year The Slips Marc Friedman and Andrew Barr the track No Good Reason with former 10,000 Maniacs singer Natalie Merchant. Now, the Slip rhythm section will back Merchant onstage at a concert to benefit the Boston based non-profit policy research organization Give US Your Poor. The show will take place at Dorchester MAs historic Strand Theatre, which originally opened in 1918 and has been host to legends like Duke Ellington, Dean Martin and Cab Calloway. The concert is intended to raise money for GUYP and to celebrate the release of their CD Give US Your Poor. The charitable compilation features songs by Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi and Pete Seeger, as well as the abovementioned Barr/Friedman/Merchant track. The Slip have also confirmed that they will team with singer/songwriter Nathan Moore for another Surprise Me Mr. Davis date at San Franciscos The Independent on December 6.
