Kaki King will release an album of new material on March 4, 2008, her first since last year’s Until We Felt Red. That disc found King branching out with songs that featured electric and pedal-steel guitar, horns, and, for the first time, vocals. This time around, King put more effort into both her vocals and the lyrics, and, as a result, views Dreaming of Revenge as her most accessible record to date.

Even though half the tracks are instrumentals, I feel like Im writing pop songs, King said in a statement. We really concentrated on the melodies. Everything I write tends to be dense and chordal, but this time the idea was to layer the challenging guitar work under very simple, beautiful melodies. I really wanted them to be memorable.
In addition, King composed some new music for Sean Penns recent film Into the Wild. King will tour behind her new recordings in 2008.
