New York City’s Merkin Concert Hall has been undergoing renovations and the facility finally will reopen early next year. On January 21, a number of musicians will celebrate its return with a Grand Piano Marathon. This free performance will draw together twelve pianists including: Philip Glass, John Medeski, Anat Fort and Vijay Iyer. In addition, Ursula Opens will perform a world premiere piece by Pulitzer Prize winner composer William Bolcom. Patrons will be allowed to enter and exit during the free marathon, with additional details at the Merkin website.
