Bob Weir, Mike Gordon, Les Claypool and Dean Ween Salute Cold Turkey
In the spring of 2005 longtime Jambands.com scribes Mike Greenhaus and Benjy Eisen entered the podcast age by creating Relix’s Cold Turkey. Over the past three years the nocturnal/fraternal friends have produced a new episode of Cold Turkey each week and multiple episodes at festivals across the country like Bonnaroo, Langerado, Lollapalooza, High Sierra, Gathering of the Vibes, Camp Bisco, All Good, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, Jam Cruise, Trancegression, Jam on the River, Wakarusa, 10,000 Lakes, Green Apple, the Jammys, Treasure Island and Vegoose, among others.
For their 150th episode, Mike and Benjy have compiled some of their favorite live performances from those festivals, which were recorded backstage exclusively for Cold Turkey. The 40 minute episode includes acoustic selections from Michael Franti, G. Love, Keller Williams, Apollo Sunshine and the Benevento-Russo Duo, as well as a rare pairing of Disco Biscuits keyboardist Aron Magner and American Babies/Brothers Past guitarist Tom Hamilton. The episode kicks off with a clip show looking back at the past 150 Cold Turkeys, including introductions from Bob Weir, Mike Gordon, Page McConnell, Les Claypool, the String Cheese Incident, moe., Umphrey’s McGee, Del McCoury, Wayne Coyne, the Disco Biscuits, Broken Social Scene, Death Cab for Cutie, the Drive-by Truckers, Guster, Robert Randolph, John Medeski, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Ben Harper, My Morning Jacket, the Magic Numbers, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Dean Ween and the Built to Spill, among many others.
