On Friday Tea Leaf Green played its first show with new bassist Reed Mathis at Santa Cruz, CAs Rio Theatre. The evenings setlist included a show opening

Little Hood, If It Wasn’t For The Money, Red Ribbons, Hot Dog (the song Mathis played with Tea Leaf Green at High Sierra in July), Piss It Away, One Reason, The Devil’s Pay, Let Us Go, Don’t Curse the Night, Jezebel, Precious Stone, Can You Guess It?, I’ve Got A Truck and a mammoth Franz Hanzerbeak. As a rare treat, the quartet also ran through The Garden’ parts 1-3 in sequential order.
A night later, Tea Leaf Green showcased its new lineup with a second gig at West Hollywood, CAs The Troubadour. Though Mathis mastered around 40 Tea Leaf Green songs in rehearsals, the group repeated a handful of numbers, including Little Hood, Franz Hanzerbeak and all three parts of The Garden. Mathis did, however, take his first stab at 5000 Acres, Faced With Love, Make a Connection and Dont Let it Down. Tea Leaf Green will perform at Fairfax, CAs 19 Broadway from December 20-21.
