Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi toured as a team in 2007 and, on December 31, their traveling Soul Stew Revival closed out the year with a packed performance at Atlantas Fox Theater. As he has on occasion at local Derek Trucks Band and Govt Mule shows, Allman Brothers Band tour mystic Kirk West introduced the group from the stage with his trademark Friends seen and unseen speech, before the Soul Stew Revival busted into I Feel Free.’ The evenings setlist was peppered with special guests, including the CodeTalkers bassist Ted Pecchio and drummer Tyler Greenwell, as well as a full horn section. The North Mississippi Allstars supplied support duties and Luther and Cody Dickinson both took the stage a various points throughout the night, most notably when the elder Dickinson added guitar to Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’ and the evenings final selection, Anyday.

Earlier in December, the Derek Trucks Band also played a series of shows throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Though billed as traditional Derek Trucks Band shows, Tedeschi vacationed with her husband and sang with the group regularly throughout their run. Opening act Papa Mali also sat in, including a late show version of Leavin’ Trunk at Hilos The Palace Theater on December 8.
