Concert promoter Jake Szufnarowski is known to many as the colorful talent buyer at the famed Wetlands and driving force behind Rocks Off and its popular boat cruises. Szufnarowski has also recently started to take the stage more regularly himself, playing in the group Children of the Unicorn fronting the metal Bee Gees cover band Tragedy. On Saturday Children of the Unicorn will celebrate the release of their first CD with a performance at New Yorks Mercury Lounge. Each ticket sold will also come with a free copy of the groups debut album. A message posted on Children of the Unicorns MySpace page said the following:

By way of celebration, a gift will also be bequeathed upon each and every person who makes the trek o’er bridge and through tunnel (and indeed those of you who just walked down the street or took a cab or whatever). This gift shall be a grand and glorious copy of the Children of the Unicorn’s first CD. Housed in the finest plastic, spun from the looms of whatever it is they make actual CDs of, and flown on the backs of Griffons through wormholes and around comets and such, the new CD is yours when you arrive at the Lounge of Mercury and let the door attendant know that you have come to experience the infernal miasma of rock and roll known as a live performance of Children of the Unicorn. You can probably leave out the words ‘infernal’ and ‘miasma’ though. Either way, as long as you tell ‘em you’re there to see us, you get a CD_.
Saturdays show will also feature an opening set by David Ginger Walls of the English cult heroes The Wildhearts. As previously reported, Scott Metzger will perform Ginger throughout his set.
