Last night Dave Matthews Band bassist Stefan Lessard played a rare solo show at Killington, VTs Pickle Barrel Nightclub, anchoring the jam-pop band Yukon Kornelius. The all-star group also featured Barenaked Ladies Ed Robertson and Gusters Adam Gardner on guitar/vocals and, on select songs, N.E.R.D.s Eric Fawcett on bass. Actor Jason Biggs hosted the event and played cowbell on the groups first two numbers, Blue Oyster Cults (Don’t Fear) The Reaper and Wars Low Rider. The rest of Yukon Kornelius set also consisted of popular covers, including Cameos Word Up!, the Rolling Stones Sympathy for the Devil, Talking Heads Psycho Killer, George Michaels Careless Whisper, Creams White Room, The Clashs Lost in the Supermarket, Five for Fightings Superman and Neil Youngs Rockin in the Free World. The ensemble also offered takes on Gusters Center of Attention and Barenaked Ladies Pinch Me. In addition, at the end of the night Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider took the stage with the group for his anthem We’re Not Gonna Take It and the groups encore, AC/DCs Highway to Hell. Dave Matthews Band is scheduled to return to the studio to work on its first album since 2005 this spring.
