Marco Benevento has confirmed a series of Northeasts dates with Tea Leaf Green/JFJO bassist Reed Mathis and Slip drummer Andrew Barr in support of his first solo studio album, Invisible Baby. The trio will hit the road on February 19 at Poughkeepsie, NYs Vassar College, before making stops in Troy (2/20), Bearsville, NY (2/21), Teaneck, NJ (2/22) and Philadelphia (2/23). Last Thursday, Benevento celebrated the albums release with the same ‘friends’ during the final night of his residency at Sullivan Hall. The Slips Brad Barr opened and later joined the trio for versions of The Duos ‘Mephisto and Beneventos Real Morning Party deep into their second set. During his opening spot, Barr also cryptically commented on The Slips empty tour schedule, saying I spent half of my life playing in a band called The Slipthose were the best times of my life, before turning to an empty drum riser to play Suffocation Keep (though he later ensured fans in the crowd that, despite his de-emphasis on the band, The Slip ‘will never breakup’). Benevento will perform with Joe Russo at Newmarket, NHs The Stone Church this Thursday and Friday

Solo Jojo

Widespread Panics John Jojo Hermann is currently in the middle of a short run of shows with his Mardi Gras Band. On February 27, the keyboardist will also play an extremely rare solo performance at Telluride, COs Sheridan Opera House. For this one-off gig, Hermann will play solo on a baby grand piano, offering his special blend of southern ragtime, and New Orleans flavored jazz and blues. Hermann will donate all proceeds from this event to SAF’s Wild West Fest, a week-long celebration of Western arts, culture and customs which brings inner-city youth along with artists and musical performers to Telluride. Hermann will perform with his Mardi Gras Band at Mobile, ALs Soul Kitchen this evening.
