On Sunday night, Umphrey’s McGee wrapped up a three night stand in San Francisco at the Fillmore. All three of shows featured guest performers and new covers. On Friday, the band premiered a version of Rage Against The Machine’s ‘Bombtrack’ as their encore with OM Trio’s Ilya Stemkovsky and Brian Felix contributing vocals and keys respectively. The next night featured guest appearances from STS9’s Dave Murphy, who replaced Ryan Stasik on bass during ‘The Triple Wide,’ and Cecil ‘P-Nut’ Daniels, who added midi-saxophone to ‘Hangover,’ which included a nod to Miles Davis with a ‘So What?’ jam. Saturday’s encore then opened with a version of the Smashing Pumpkin’s ‘Rhinoceros’ which led into UM’s ‘Pay the Snucka.’ Finally on Sunday, Particle’s Steve Molitz appeared with the group on keys and vocals for a version of Slick Rick’s ‘Children’s Story,’ while Tea Leaf Green guitarist Josh Clark stood in for Brendan Bayliss on ’40’s Theme.’ The run concluded with the group’s take on Ween’s ‘It’s Gonna Be a Long Night.’
Umphrey’s is off until a show on February 27 at People’s in Des Moines, Iowa.
