The Join headlined a performance at Brooklyn, NYs Studio B last Saturday and, as expected, the evening featured a number of intriguing collaborations. In addition to the New Deals Jamie Shields and Darren Shearer, this version of the Join included Brothers Past members Clay Parnell and Tom Hamilton. Parnell actually pulled double duty, performing earlier in the evening with drummer Johnny Rabb as BioDiesel. Shields also stepped out a bit early for an impromptu jam during BioDiesels set, while Rabb stuck around to sit-in with The Join. While most of their set featured free-form improvisation, The Join did offer a version of the Brother’s Past favorite ‘Let’s Start a Gang and closed their set with a cover of David Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance. The Join will perform at Teaneck, NJs Mexicali Blues this Saturday.
