‘Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley’ With New Monsoon and Dumpstaphunk

Over the weekend, New Monsoon and Ivan Neville’s

Dumpstaphunk co-headlined a two night run at
Denver’s Oriental Theater. Both shows
benefited Rock the Earth and featured a
collaborative jam at the end of the night: On
Friday, the two groups ran through Allen Toussaint’s ‘Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley’ and
Little Feat’s ‘Spanish Moon,’ while on Saturday
the bands riffed on a cover of the Rolling
Stones’ ‘Miss You.’
New Monsoon will return to
California this weekend for two performances with

the Mother Hips. In total, the Hips and New
Monsoon will share eight gigs throughout
the spring months. Most recently, the longtime
friends played a show in Petaluma, CA that
concluded with a joint set consisting of New
Young’s ‘Cinnamon Girl,’ Marvin Gaye’s ‘Inner
City Blues’ and the Beatles’ ‘Hey Jude.’
Meanwhile, New Monsoon will perform in Mesa, AZ’s
Goat Head Saloon this evening, with former
Spearhead vocalist Radioactive supplying support duties.
