For years George Porter Jr. and Johnny Vidacovich have hosted a weekly series of trio shows at New Orleans famed Maple Leaf with a whos who of guests stepping in to round out their rotating third spot. With JazzFest in full swing this evening the bass/drums duo will expand to a quartet with the addition of Marco Benevento and Skerik. Porter will remain as busy as always this weekend, performing with both PBS and the New Orleans All-Stars at the Howlin Wolf this Friday and with the funky Meters at the same venue on Saturday. Finally, he will grace the Fairgrounds stage with the Snooks Eaglin Sunday afternoon, before performing with PBS at Howlin’ Wolfs 11th Annual Krewe of Zigaboo Sunday night.
