On May 8, 2007, Dark Star Orchestra performed in Ithaca, NY to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the Grateful Dead’s celebrated 5/8/77 performance at Cornell. While the Dead gig took place at Barton Hall, DSO delivered a sold out show at the State Theatre during which Ithaca Mayor Carolyn Peterson declared it to be ‘Grateful Dead Day in the City of Ithaca.’ Dark Star Orchestra will now share its performance (unlike the Grateful Dead which thus far has resisted the call to release 5/8/77, in part because so many crisp copies circulated over the years which helped to build the reputation of the show). 30 Years Later: The Video is a double DVD available at all Dark Star Orchestra performances and at the band’s website.

The group currently is not gigging but will pick up the pace on May 25, when it embarks on its Road to the Roo Tour, which will culminate (as you can well imagine) with a performance at the Bonnaroo Music Festival on June 12.
