On Friday ALO keyboardist Zach Gill celebrated his birthday with an intimate solo gig at Santa Barbara, CAs SOhO. Though Gill has spent most of the year on the road with Jack Johnson, this show found the keyboardist running through material off his forthcoming solo album with the aid of guitarist John Payne, drummer Steve Campbell and bassist Jim Connolly. In addition, Gill invited a handful of guests to the stage, including singer/songwriter, Kirstin Candy, saxophonist Colter Frazier, standup bassist Miles Jay and Dave Fortson, who sang on ‘The Time.’

Gills solo album is scheduled for release this July. The keyboardists work also appears in a few new films: Gill recently collaborated with Aimee Mann and former Talking Heads multi-instrumentalist Jerry Harrison on the composition ‘At the Edge of the World’ for the documentary _ An Arctic Tale_ and a track off his upcoming solo disc is also featured in Tina Feys new film Baby Mama. The song, known as Family, also features Jack Johnson on backing vocals and drums.
