STS9, Crystal Method, Slightly Stoopid and Ozomatli were among the artists set to appear at the Monterey Music Summit this coming weekend. However, the promoter has announced that the Summit will be rescheduled to October and moved from Laguna Seca Raceway to an as-yet-unannounced location in Monterey County. A statement on the festival’s MySpace page explains:

After a successful launch of the inaugural event last October at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, the decision was made to find a new location that could accommodate patrons who desired camping accommodations. It was at this time that Laguna Seca was selected and confirmed for dates in May 2008. Unfortunately, several issues have emerged since attempting to produce the event at the new location that have resulted in the overall decision to postpone the event. Objections to the Festival line-up (which ultimately had to receive final approval from the Monterey County Board of Supervisors), heightened security demands from county officials, noise restrictions, production cost factors and overall minimal demand for camping are the major obstacles encountered to date.
With a continued outpouring of public support despite the recent challenges in producing the second Monterey Music Summit, promoter Joe Fletcher has opted for a postponement and relocation of the event as opposed to a complete cancellation. Details on the new date and location will be announced once the event is firmly contracted.
