Though the Derek Truck Bands technically headlined Moab, UTs Desert Rocks Music Festival, the members of ALO could be considered the festivals official mascots. With keyboardist Zach Gill still on the road with Jack Johnson, the groups other members performed in a number of different configurations in several different settings. The most unique set found Trevor Garrod fronting the rest of ALO under the name TLO. The group mixed material from Garrods canon with covers like The Beatles I Am the Walrus, as well as a variety of ALO originals. Garrod even supplied lead on the popular ALO number Shapeshifter and brought out ALO guitarist Dan Lebowitz during his solo set for It’s All Right and Walls Of Time (the gig also featured a cameo from former New Monsoon percussionist Marty Ylitalo). In addition, the three members of ALO played a rare trio set under the name LAB, while Lebowitz performed with Magic Gravy and bassist Steve Adams played with his new group Big Light.

Lebowitz will headline the Mayflowers III event at San Franciscos Cafe du Nord this Friday, which will also feature performances by Forest Sun and The JP Cutler Band. Adams will play bass with each band on the bill and also play with Big Light at 12 Galaxies the last Thursday of the month each month beginning in June.
