Medeski Martin & Wood and Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog played a free show

last night at Brooklyn’s Prospect Park as part of the Celebrate Brooklyn concert series. Ribot appeared first, before MMW
hit the stage with a funky version of ‘New Planet’ After running
through defined numbers like ‘Cat Creeps’ and
‘Does Anybody Here Love My Jesus?,’ the trio offered a few
improvisations with the aid of Ribot on guitar and Sex Mob’s Steve
Bernstein on slide trumpet. Throughout the night, MMW also offered
some rare songs, including a jam with Ribot from their Radiolarians
seasonal series and a ‘Sefrial,’ from the group’s forthcoming _Book
of Angels_ release. Book of Angels, which is part of
avant-garde great John Zorn’s Masada series, will be released on July
22.
