Levon Helm has spent most of June opening for Phil Lesh & Friends with his Ramble On the Road band. But, though both Lesh and Helms bands include guitarist Larry Campbell, the hippie-rock icons did not take the stage together until yesterdays performance at Gilford, NHs US Cellular Pavilion. Three songs into Leshs performance, the drummer and his bandmates Jay Collins (sax), Steven Bernstein (trumpet), Eric Lawrence (sax) and Jimmy Vivino (guitar) emerged to play a version of The Bands W.S. Walcott Medicine Show along with Phil Lesh & Friends. Campbells wife Teresa Williams, who plays in Helms band, also sat in with Lesh for a few songs, as she has periodically throughout the bassists summer tour.

In other Lesh news, on Friday saxophonist Greg Osby performed with his former bandmates at Philadelphias Penn’s Landing. Osby emerged for a reading of Fire on the Mountain a few songs into Leshs second set. Phil Lesh & Friends will perform St. Louis, MO on July 3.
