Phil Lesh & Friends performed at Wantagh, NYs Jones Beach night with special guest the Levon Helm Band. At the end of his performance, Lesh confirmed that he will host a three-to-four-week residency at New Yorks Nokia Theater this fall. Lesh played ten sold-out shows at the venue last October and November.

While Lesh and Helm did not collaborate at Jones Beach as many has hoped, several of his bandmates did sit in with the former Band drummer during his opening set. After introducing Helm, Jackie Greene took the stage to play tambourine on the classic Tears of Rage and latter strapped on an acoustic guitar for a set-closing take on The Weight. Drummer John Molo also took a turn behind the kit for Ashes Of Love and Rag Mama Rag while Helm played mandolin. As previously reported, Helms band features current Phil & Friends members Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams.
Lesh will perform at 10,000 Lakes on July 16, while Helm will host one of his Midnight Rambles Saturday.
