Following the S.T.U.M. (Sound Tribe Sector 9/Umphreys McGee) co-bill at Roseland Ballroom last night, New Yorks Blender Theatre hosted an official after show featuring live PA sets by both the Pnuma Trio and STS9. Pnuma played first and, at around 2 AM, STS9 took over on their laptops for a full-band PA set. The roughly hour-long set ended up boasting the first sit in of the STUM tour when Umphreys guitarist Jake Cinninger sat in for a drum jam that led into Rabble. STS9 drummer Zach Velmer seemed equally as excited as Cinninger, jumping all around his laptop and smashing the side cymbal with Cinninger, before finally running across the stage to pump up the crowd.

Our shows are so different [from STS9s], Cinninger said in an interview prior to the show. Sometimes this scene sometimes stresses [sit ins] a little too much, almost forces it sometimes. [We are going to wait] until were ready and it feels comfortable. Sometimes its ok not towere friends backstage, we joke around backstage and have fun. They have their objective and we have our objective and its all good. Its just a little bit of a different vibe.
The S.T.U.M. tour will continue this evening at Philadelphias Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing. Umphreys McGee will also host a late-night jam the TLA later this evening. For more on STS9, please read our recent site interview. Report by Pietro C. Truba
