The Tipitina’s Foundation will present two free events of note this coming weekend in New Orleans. On Saturday, it’s 101 Runners, a night of Mardi Gras Indian Funk with Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, War Chief Juan Pardo and special guests Uganda Roberts, Walter ‘Wolfman’ Washington and Kirk Joseph. Then on Sunday afternoon at Tipitina’s, Russell Batiste Jr. (PBS, funky Meters, Vida Blue) will perform with the Russell Batiste Band in ‘Making The Band.’ Students are encouraged to bring their instruments to this installment of the ‘Music Workshop Series.’ The event, which will take place from 12:30-3:30 PM is free and open to the public. The mission of the Tipitinas Foundation ‘is to support Louisianas irreplaceable music community and preserve the states unique musical cultures.
