Mike Gordon headlined a free, outdoor show at Burlington, VT’s Waterfront Park on Friday as part of the Lake Champlain Maritime Festival. To mark his homecoming, Gordon shared the stage with a few of his former bandmates at various points throughout the night. After running through a cover of the Beatles’ ‘She Said, She Said,’ Gordon invited out his Ramble Dove collaborators Brett Hughes and Marie Claire for the country-infused ‘On A Bad Day’ and ‘Milwaukee Here I Come.’ Immediately after, once and future Phish keyboardist Page McConnell took the stage for the new Gordon originals ‘Andelmans’ Yard,’ ‘Traveled Too Far,’ and ‘Voices,’ as well as Phish’s ‘Makisupa Policeman.’ Before hitting the road for his current solo tour, Gordon still occasionally played both bass and piano with Hughes at Radio Beam’s weekly honky-tonk jams. His current solo tour resumes this Friday at Seattle’s Tractor Tavern.
