For the first time in their career, the members of Widespread Panic will not celebrate New Years Eve in Georgia. Panic has rung in the new year in a number of Georgian cities over the years, finding a home at Atlantas Phillips Arena in 1999. As heavily rumored, Widespread Panic will perform at Denvers Pepsi Center on December 30 and 31 with openers Yonder Mountain String Band. The members of Yonder Mountain String Band spilled the beans while performing in Snowmass, CO this past Monday. Having played both Morrison, COs Red Rocks and Denvers Mile High Stadium this year the group also gave the middle finger to doubtful bluegrass purists.

Following New Years Eve, Widespread Panic will spend most of 2009 off the road. The group is expected to, however, return for a series of dates at the end of 2009. Widespread Panic was also on hiatus in 2004.
