Toubab Krewe has confirmed the release of a new album, _ Live at the Orange Peel_. As its title suggests, _ Live at the Orange Peel_ culls highlights from the groups 2007-2008 New Years run at Asheville, NCs Orange Peel. All of the songs featured on the album are previously unreleased and blend the groups rock-roots with elements of West African music. The album also features collaborations with legendary spoken word artist Umar Bin Hassan (The Last Poets) and fiddler Rayna Gellert (Uncle Earl).

‘We’ve been developing our material live, as we tour, so recording our
second album on stage was a natural way for us to capture our creative
energy,’ guitarist Drew Heller said in a statement. ‘Live performance allows unexpected
moments to occur — audience and band energies interact in ways that can’t
be foreseen or simulated in a studio.’
Like the groups previous album, , _ Live at the Orange Peel_ was produced by the guitarists father, Grammy winning producer Steven Heller. Toubab Krewe will appear at Atlanta, GAs Smiths Olde Bar this Friday, September 12.
