Marco Benevento is currently working on a new studio album with solo group. Like his previous solo release Invisible Baby, the album will feature JFJO bassist Reed Mathis and alternately drummer Matt Chamberlain and the Slips Andrew Barr. Unlike his previous release, however, Beneventos next studio project will focus primarily on the various covers the keyboardist has added to his solo set over the past few years, in addition to a few new solo tunes.

On Saturday, Benevento played several songs tentatively slated for the release at the wedding of longtime Jambands.com photographer/Slip co-manager Jon Bahr. Benevento played during the cocktail hour preceding the Bahrs reception at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens on unaccompanied on a Wurlitzer piano. In addition to some more traditional wedding tunes by the Beatles and Steve Wonder, Benevento also offered solo takes on My Morning Jackets Golden and Radioheads Paranoid Android. Benevento’s next solo performance will take place at New York’s Kenny’s Castaways on October 23.
