Phil Lesh & Friends are a few days into their extended fall tour. The first few days of the groups outing found Lesh & Friends opening for the Allman Brothers Band at southern amphitheatres. On Wednesday, both the group appeared at Virginia Beach, VAs Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre where Phil Lesh/Particle keyboardist Steve Molitz stepped up to play on Afro Blue. Later in the weekend at Charlotte, NCs Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre, Larry Campbell also played fiddle with the ABB on Come On Into My Kitchen, while both guitarist Jackie Greene and drummer John Molo sat in on Southbound. Finally, last night Phil Lesh & Friends switched things up by opening for the Black Crowes Alpharetta, GAs Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. Though no members of Leshs band sat in with the Crowes, former Phil Lesh & Friends singer Chris Robinson did join his onetime collaborators for a take on Sugaree. Phil Lesh & Friends will join the Allman Brothers once again for an appearance at Birmingham, ALs Verizon Wireless Music Center tomorrow.
