With folks receiving initial word on their Phish tickets , it seems appropriate that we close our day with some news from the Vermont Quartets camp. Jon Fishman played a series of shows over the weekend, first with Yonder Mountain String Band and later with the Everyone Orchestra at Asheville, NCs Loki Music Festival. In addition to Fishman and Matt Butler, this incarnation of the Everyone Orchestra featured Marco Benevento, Papa Mali and Jonathan Scales, as well as Barrel House Mamas Molly Rose Reed and Eleanor and Toubab Krewes Justin Perkins and Luke Quaranta. Fittingly, the band offered a mix of almost completely improvised African and blues-based music, along with a cover of the traditional folk song The Wayfaring Stranger. The Everyone Orchestra then closed out its set with a group chant that love is everywhere.

In related Loki Festival news, a number of musicians sat in with JJ Grey & Mofro during their Sunday performance. Both Benevento and Inca Maya guitarist Matt Grondin took the stage for Ho Cake, while Papa Mali appeared on Lochloosa. Grey also popped on during Toots & the Maytals performance for a take on Reggae Got Soul.
