The members of the String Cheese Incident ended a busy Halloween weekend last night by anchoring a Pr-O-bama Jam at Boulder, COs Boulder Theater. A collaboration with Conscious Alliance, the event mixed live music with focused speeches by the likes of Iraq War veteran Lee Gerry and Zero Hero’s John Long. The evening opened with a short set by Dubskin, before shifting into the political sphere with a documentary on Barack Obama.

Later in the night, String Cheese Incidents Michael Travis, Michael Kang and Bill Nershi reunited for a loose, electric performance hinged on funk staples like Hey Pockey Way. Throughout the jam, a number of familiar faces also graced the stage, including Patrice Blanchard (Panjea), Aaron Johnston (Brazilian Girls) and several members of The Motet: Joey Porter, Scott Messersmith, Dominic Lalli and Garrett Sayers. Unlike most of his recent work, however, Nershi played electric throughout the night, including on a cover of Tom Waits The Heart of Saturday Night. Proceeds from the event benefited a number of non-profits, ranging from The Conscious Alliance to Our Future Now to the Basics Fund.
