The Disco Biscuits’ Marc Brownstein and Aron Magner hosted a Halloween event at New York’s Highline Ballroom Friday in conjunction with area concert promoters Mixed Bag. The show featured a near seamless night of music, including performances by Telepath and Orchard Lounge, as well as Magner and Brownstein’s Conspirator side-project. As he has a handful of times this fall, Disco Biscuits drummer Allen Aucoin sat in with Conspirator throughout its late-night set, including selections like Step Inside,

Orch Theme, Oname Wa, Caves of the East and Boomshanker. Near the end of Conspirators set, Telepath bassist Curt Heiny sat in for a short jam, before Orchard Lounge took over for the remainder of the evening. While the down-tempo trio spun, a video screen projected a mash-up of the Disney cartoon Alice in Wonderland and the 1989 version of Batman.
In addition, Brownstein confirmed from the stage that the Disco Biscuits first studio album since 2002 would be released in 2009, followed by ‘lots and lots of touring.’ The group has shied away from playing its newest set of songs until the albums release.
Both Magner and Brownstein will perform at New York’s Highline Ballroom this evening as part of HeadCounts Get Out and Vote Party. The Disco Biscuits will return to New York for a multi-night run at the Nokia Theatre on December 26.
