Neighboring Greenwich Village clubs will team up for New Yorks 2009 Winter Jazz Fest. The tri-venue event will take place at New Yorks (Le) Poisson Rouge, Sullivan Hall and Kenny’s Castaways from 6 PM 4 AM on January 10. Similar to past years, the festival will provide an opportunity for artists to showcase their music in front of presenters, promoters, talent buyers, educators, musicians and avid fans. Over 5000 arts professionals will be in New York City for the annual Association of Performing Arts Presenters (APAP) conference from January 9-13.

A diverse mix of jazz and experimental bands will participate in the fifth annual event, including Ayelet Rose Gottlieb, Burnt Sugar the Arkestra Chamber, By Any Means, Dafnis Prieto Sextet, Don Byron’s Ivey Divey Trio, Gary Bartz – Ommas Keith Project, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey, Jason Moran’s Bandwagon, Jonathan Batiste Trio, Lafayette Gilchrist Trio, Marco Benevento Trio, Robert Glasper Trio, Sarah Morrow ‘Elektric Air,‘Tar Baby (Evans/Allen/Dillard/Revis/Waits), Will Calhoun Group, Theo Bleckman with Todd Reynolds String Quartet Toshi Reagon & BIGLovely and the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey. For this performance, Benevento will be augmented by Slip bassist Marc Friedman and JFJO drummer Josh Raymer. In addition, Jeff ‘Tain’ Watts, Terence Blanchard, Christian McBride and Prometheus Jenkins will perform together as The Watts Project. A special $25 showcase pass will be made available for fans hoping to segue between venues.
