Though the Black Crowes extended 2008 tour is winding down, the group continues to be engaged and, when the mood is right, ready to bring some special guests onto the stage. Late last week, the Crowes performed at Minneapolis, MNs First Avenue and invited local heroand onetime Jayhawks guitaristGary Louris out for covers of both Long Black Veil and You Aint Going Nowhere. The Jayhawks have a long history with the Black Crowes, and Crowes frontman Chris Robinson recently produced Louris and Mark Olsons forthcoming album, Ready for the Flood.

Both songs also featured contributions from the evenings support Vetiver. The modern folk groups members have collaborated with the likes of The Shins and Devendra Banhart, have been sat in with the Black Crowes for a few songs each night of their current outing.
The Black Crowes will begin a run of shows at San Franciscos Fillmore this evening. Ready for the Flood will hit stores this January.
