On Saturday night, the Black Crowes wrapped up their five night run at the Fillmore in San Francisco. On hand was Phil Lesh, who has welcomed Chris Robinson as one of the Friends in his touring group off and on over the past few years. Lesh stepped out on bass for the encore, which featured two Grateful Dead originals and a song long associated with the Dead, as the group moved from ‘Sugaree’ into ‘Cold Rain And Snow’ and then ‘New Speedway Boogie.’
In other Crowes news, the band has announced that it will record its next disc of original material before a live audience. The group is encouraging all ‘Amoricans and cosmic cuties’ to come out for these these performance which will take place at Levon Helm’s Barn in Woodstock, NY. The shows will take place over two weekends: February 21 and 22 and then February 28 and March 1, with tickets now on sale.
