On December 24, Soulfarm hosted its annual Chanukah celebration at New Yorks B.B. King Blues Club. The evening began with a menorah lighting facilitated by Jammys/Green Apple visionary Peter Shapiro and noted Rabbi Shmuley Boteach (the host of TLCs Shalom in the Home, as well as the author of Kosher Sex and Kosher Sutra. In addition, Soulfarm guitarist C Lanzbom greeted the crowd with a Jimi Hendrix-style reworking of the traditional ‘Rock of Ages.

The rest of the evening took on something of a family feel: Soulfarm frontman Noah Solomon invited his brothers band The Moshav Band to open the night and later brought his siblings back out for a mid-show sit in. Soulfarm also invited out Matisyahu—-who was enjoying a rare day off from his own Chanukah celebration—-to play on the reggae tune ‘It’s Too Late.’
Soulfarm recently completed the new CD Monkey Dance. The album is said to be a cross between a good ol fashioned jamband and the exotic sounds of Gypsy Kings. Matisyahu will perform at Brooklyn NYs Music Hall of Williamsburg tomorrow, while The Moshav Band will appear at Los Angeles The Mint on January 4.
