Janes Addiction/Banyan drummer Stephen Perkins oversee the finals for what has been billed as the worlds largest drum competition.’ The event will take place at Los Angeles Music Box at Fonda Theater on January 6, featuring the six finalists in Guitar Centers annual drum-off competition. The six undiscovered drummers were selected from a pool of over 5,000 competitors at Guitar Center 214 locations, and the winner will receive $45,000 dollars. The show will also feature performances by Papa Roach, Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) and Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall), as well as an exclusive collaboration between Thomas Lang and Thomas Pridgen (Mars Volta). The latter musician actually won Guitar Centers Drum-Off champion in 1993 when he was just 9 years old!

In addition, Guitar Center will posthumously honor Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer Mitch Mitchell, along with living legends Nicko McBrain (Iron Maiden) and Carmine Appice (Vanilla Fudge, Ted Nugent, Rod Stewart). The three musicians will join
Guitar Centers Drum-Legends Hall of Fame section, which is located at the chains flagship San Francisco location.
