Soulive returned to its adopted hometown of New York Monday for a performance at the Highline Ballroom. The trio marked the occasion by running through a handful of new songs from its forthcoming album, including Upright, Backwards Jack PJs and Too Much. In addition, the group rounded out its lineup at various points throughout the night with old friends Nigel Hall (vocals), Sam Kininger (saxophone) and Ryan Zoidis (saxophone). All three musicians also moonlight with Soulives Eric Krasno and Neil Evans in Lettuce. Soulive will return to its roots for a New Years Eve performance at Bostons Paradise Rock Club this evening.
