The Disco Biscuits New Years Eve performance as a culmination of the groups largely sold-out, five-show holiday run at New Yorks Nokia Theatre in Times Square. The group offered three sets that mixed older material like Vassillios and Trucker’s Choice with a hefty dose of the brand new songs the quartet debuted earlier this year: Uber Glue, Tamarin Alley, Meditation, The Autumn Breeze, High Speed Racer and ‘M80.’ The clock hit midnight during a version of the jam-staple Astronaut which segued into a take on Helicopters that included special happy New Years lyrics. Images of New York City were projected on the stage as the number moved into Air Song, before the Biscuits returned to Helicopters to close its second set. Later in the night, Matisyahu also emerged to beatbox during a freeform jam sandwiched in Magellan.

The night concluded with a version of Marc Brownsteins famed narrative Nughuffer that found the bassist humorously riffing on the marijuana smoking habits of Bill Clinton, the Jonas Brothers and Ludacris. Ned Scott, the keyboardist in the U.K. electronic act the Egg, also helped close the night by sitting in for a Nughuffer jam that stretched until shortly after 3 AM.
The Disco Biscuits will return to the road later this month. Please visit www.relix.com for a recent video interview with the group.
