Longtime Grateful Dead Hour host David Gans will put in an extended shift tomorrow on Northern California’s KPFA. The annual Grateful Dead Marathon will air for fifteen hours, from 10:00 am to 1:00 am PST in an effort to raise funds for the independent station. The broadcast will feature a number of celebrated Grateful Dead performances and rarities including excerpts from a February 1983 conversation with Phil Lesh and Jerry Garcia, and recordings of 6/27/76 (Auditorium Theater, Chicago) and 10/14/77 (Hofheinz Pavilion, Houston TX). The Marathon will be webcast on kpfa.org, nugs.net, and our current Fan Site of the Month, gdradio.net. For more on David Gans’ own music, be sure to check out part of two of Randy Ray’s interview with him, now up on the site.
