A number of musicians who performed with Merl Saunders over the course of his career will come together for a concert to celebrate the life of the organist, who passed away in October. The event will take place on February 14, which would have been Saunders’ 75th birthday at the Great American Music Hall. Merl’s son, the composer and producer Tony Saunders, has assembled the line-up, which will include David Grisman, Melvin Seals, Pete Sears, and Peter Albin. Wavy Gravy will emcee the night, which also will include an appearance by original Jerry Garcia and Merl Saunders Band drummer Bill Vitt.
