The Zen Tricksters often cover the music of the Grateful Dead but unlike Dark Star Orchestra, rather than interpret entire past performances, the Tricksters typically integrate individual song selections into their shows. However, the Zen Tricksters will change this up on March 2 at Mexicali Live in Teaneck, NJ when the group celebrates the Grateful Dead’s celebrated 3/2/69 Fillmore West show. For this performance, the Tricksters will be joined by pianist Tom Constanten, who appeared with the Dead on the original evening (some of which appears on Live Dead, all of which was collected on Fillmore West 1969). The Tricksters also will add a second drummer for this show, as former ZT member Joe Chircow will participate as well. Tomorrow night, the Tricksters will perform with another Dead alum, backing Donna Jean Godchaux MacKay for a Donna Jean & the Tricksters date at the Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, PA.
