Umphreys McGee wrapped-up a four-night run at Madison, WIs Barrymore Theatre this past Sunday. In addition to a previously reported cameo by Jeff Coffin Thursday night, each show featured a number of surprises. On Friday, Jen Hartswick and Kevin Sinclair emerged on trumpet and saxophone, respectively for Memphis Underground, while Jake Cinninger led Umphreys through Living On a Farm, a long-shelved cut from his previous band Ali Baba’s Tahini. The following night Umphreys bassist Ryan Stasik threw an American the Beautiful bass jam into All Things Ninja and, finally, on Sunday both Cinninger and Brendan Bayliss unplugged their guitars for a semi-acoustic first set. The band also busted out a cover of .38 Specials Hold On Loosely and brought out former lighting designer Adam Budney to sing Honey Bunch as an encore. Umphreys McGee will kick off the next leg of its winter tour at Atlantas Variety Playhouse this Thursday.
