The initial lineup for the 4th annual Backbeat Jazzfest Series been confirmed. As in years past, the music series will take place at a variety of New Orleans venues after the festivities at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival wind down. This years series will boast performances from the likes of Dirty Dozen Brass Band featuring Booker T. and Hill Country Revue (4/24, Republic New Orleans), Tim Reynolds & TR3 (4/26, Tipitina’s French Quarter), Ghostland Observatory (4/30, Republic New Orleans), Soulive and the Benevento/Russo Duo (5/1, Studio at Colton Theater), Steve Kimock Crazy Engine featuring Melvin Seals (5/1, Tipitina’s French Quarter), Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue (5/1, Tipitina’s French Quarter), Dirty Dozen Brass Band (5/2, Tipitina’s French Quarter), Bustle In Your Hedgegrow (5/2, Tipitina’s French Quarter), Medeski Martin and Wood (5/2, Studio at Colton Theater), Toubab Krewe (5/2, Blue Nile), U-Melt and Orchard Lounge (5/2, Blue Nile) and Jerry Joseph (5/2, Blue Nile Upstairs). In addition, Cyril Neville will host a release party for his new album _Brand New Blues_with guests Anders Osborne and Tab Benoit, as well as support act Kirk Joseph at Tipitina’s French Quarter on April 30.
