On February 17, 4AD released the two-disc AIDS benefit compilation Dark Was the Night. The 31-track set was produced by The Nationals Aaron and Bryce Dessner and features previously unreleased material by David Byrne and the Dirty Projectors, My Morning Jacket, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Yo La Tengo, The National, Fiest, My Brightest Diamond, Kronos Quartet, The Decemberists, Iron and Wine, Sufjan Stevens, Spoon, Arcade Fire , Cat Power and Dirty Delta Blues, Andrew Bird, Oberst + Gillian Welch and Broken Social Scenes Kevin Drew, among many others. On May 3, the Dessners will bring Dark Was the Night to New Yorks Radio City Music hall for a one night only event. The all-star show will feature performances by David Byrne, Dave Sitek, Dirty Projectors, Feist, My Brightest Diamond, The National, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings and a number of additional artists. Given the nature of the event, several surprise guests and unique collaborations are also expected throughout the night.
