The National Guitar Workshop will host its annual Jam Summit from July 26-31 in Purchase, NY. Last year’s participants included Eric Krasno and Charlie Hunter, while this year will feature Aquarium Rescue Unit band mates Jimmy Herring and Oteil Burbridge. The Jam Summit core faculty also includes returning members Brian Seeger (Stanton Moore, Theresa Andersson), Simon Lott (Charlie Hunter), Casandra Faulconer (Papa Mali, Theresa Andersson), Brian Coogan (Skerik, Stanton Moore Trio) and Dennis McCumber. Jam Summit ‘will be a space where intermediate to advanced players, of all instruments and ages, will be guided and encouraged to unleash their potential as improvisers and spontaneous composers. Participants will explore the places where rock, folk, jazz, funk, latin, reggae, country, psychedelic, and free playing can meet, meld, and morph.’ Jam Summit will take place at SUNY Purchase, with additional details available at the National Guitar Workshop website.
