Time Turns Elastic the orchestral piece composed by Trey Anastasio and Don Hart has been recorded in a studio setting for a May 12 release. Anastasio and The Northwest Sinfonia appear on the recording, which was conducted by David Sabee. The piece debuted in September 2008, with a performance by Anastasio and Orchestra Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium. In a press release, Anastasio describes the origins of the piece, noting, ‘I was living in upstate New York when I started writing this little tune that just kept growing. I initially thought it would be a Phish song, but after I sent a demo of it to Don, it just grew organically into an orchestral piece.’ On Thursday May 21, Anastasio and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Marin Alsop, will perform the composition along with Phish songs and Anastasio solo material.
