Acclaimed guitarist J.J. Cale kicked off his first solo tour in five years with a two-night stand at Los Angeles McCabe’s over the weekend. As luck would have it, Tom Petty and his Heartbreakers guitarist Campbell were both in the area and stopped by to sit in with Cale the second night of his McCabes run. The Heartbreakers joined Cale for the second half of his set, including Crazy Mama, After Midnight and what is said to be the live debut of I’d Like to Love You, Baby.

Cale is currently on the road in support of his new album Roll On. A portion of the proceeds from each show on the tour, which extends through April 15, will be donated to local animal shelters and rescue efforts.
