Several members of the Widespread Panic family will participate in a benefit for the True Love Canine Rescue. The non-profit was co-founded by Widespread Panic sound engineer Chris Rabold and his wife Michelle in 2008 after they rescued Luckynow known as Bitsyfrom the Atlanta Humane Society. According to a release from Panic, Lucky was brought to the AHS with a hunting knife embedded in her skull. After seeing the story on the news, the Rabolds immediately set out to adopt this beautiful sweet Pit Bull. Saving Bitsy, coupled with their own experiences over the past few years fostering dogs themselves, inspired them to start True Love Canine Rescue.

The benefit will take place at Athens, GAs Georgia Theatre on May 15 featuring a performance by seminal area band Bloodkin and friends like Heavy Feather, Todd Nance (Widespread Panic), Sunny Ortiz, (Widespread Panic), William Tonks, John Neff (Drive By Truckers), David Barbe (Sugar, Mercyland), John Mills and prouder/guitarist John Keane. A handful of additional guests will be added to the events bill in the coming weeks.
