The Street Sweeper Social Club is a new band of Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello, Coup MC Boots Riley and Galactic drummer Stanton Moore. Given Galactics busy tour schedule, Moore will be unable to tour with the group, but his bandmates will hit the road with summer with a round of support dates for Nine Inch Nails and Janes Addition. Last night, The Street Sweeper Social Club also performed a stealth show at New Yorks Kennys Castaways, a tiny club located on Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village. Morello, Riley and a backing band consisting of bassist Dave Gibbs, guitarist Carl Restivo and drummer Eric Gardner ran through a number of tracks off their forthcoming studio album, including Fight! Smash! Win!, The Squeeze and Nobody Moves (Til We Say Go), as well as a cover of M.I.A.s Paper Planes. Steve Earle was among the celebrity fans in attendance.

The gig was actually The Street Sweepers second stealth show this week. Last Tuesday night, Morello and Riley took the stage with The Roots during its regular jam session at New Yorks Highline Ballroom. The group offered a similar setlist, featuring a handful of new originals and Paper Planes.
